Wrestling BC looks to create partnership for Wrestling Day in Williams Lake

Wrestling BC, along with the University of the Fraser Valley Wrestling team is hoping to create a partnership with the City of Williams Lake for next year’s Wrestling Day celebrations and have requested monetary support.

Arjan Bhullar, Executive Member of Wrestling BC and co-head coach, says it will help promote further growth in the sport within the Lake City and surrounding areas.

“If you look at our culture nowadays, sports is so important for kids as they grow up and wrestling’s unique compared to any other sport.”

“If we can celebrate sport in general and our sport specifically for that day, I think it’d be huge for Williams Lake and for our sport of wrestling.”

Bhullar says their one day of festivities on January 2nd, would include two to four qualified clinicians from the University of the Fraser Valley providing free technical instruction followed by friendly competitive wrestling matches.

The City has requested that Bhullar submits an application for a grant-in-aid by September 30th.
