Lone Butte to have a town hall meeting on wildlife management

Lone Butte residents will have the opportunity to attend a wildlife management town hall meeting in May.

The meeting, hosted by the BC Wildlife Federation, will be joined by MLA’s and candidates to discuss the state of wildlife management and the concerns had by residents.

Advocacy Coordinator Steve Hamilton explains the biggest problem that’s been faced up to this point.

“It’s been under funded for over 50 years. We’ve watched funding for fish and wildlife actually decline in the last five decades or so.” says Hamilton.

“Wildlife is suffering, habitat is suffering, we’re seeing consequences of this around the province so, it’s time to take action.”

Hamilton added that elected officials work for the people, and that hunters, anglers, sport shooters have a loud voice in the province that need to be heard when the polls open in October.

The town hall meeting will be open to the public at the Lone Butte Community Hall (5994 Hwy 24) on Saturday, May 11th at 11:00am.
