The dig out continues now that a winter storm has passed through the Cariboo.
“Yesterday was the snowiest February 7th on record,” says Environment Canada meteorologist Cindy Yu.
“We received 19.8 cm of yesterday. The old record was 11.6 cm and that record was set in 1985.”
When it came to total accumulation Yu said within the last 48 hours Williams Lake received 23 centimeters and Quesnel 38 centimeters.
Yu also noted that some of the precipitation that fell in Williams Lake came in the form of light showers and freezing rain.
A summary of estimated snowfall in cm within the last 48 hours according to Environment Canada is as listed:
- Terrace: 56 cm
- Smithers: 45 cm
- Burns Lake: 30 – 66 cm
- Prince George: 35 – 40 cm
- Quesnel: 38 cm
- Williams Lake: 28 – 30 cm
- Fort St James: 24 cm
- Ootsa Lake: 25 cm
- Yoho Park: 30 – 40 cm
