Recovery Managers Hired Throughout the Cariboo Region

Recovery Managers have now been established to support the region through the final community recovery phase of this summer’s emergency response.

Stephanie Masun began her position as Recovery Manager for the Cariboo Regional District (CRD) this past Friday.

“I’ve lived here in the Cariboo for over 10 years and this is my home and my community as well. I think recovery is an important phase and I’m glad to be in this role helping residents to connect with needed resources and information.”

“I was in one of the communities that was not on order to leave so my community really banded together to take care of each and also share information. It made us closer in a lot of ways and it made us understand where our strengths are and also where we would need to work together again in the future if something like this were to happen again.”

Masun says she has already been working with other municipal recovery managers and teams to help identify opportunities and resource gaps for needed social and economic recovery.

She says she has also already attended the three of the CRD’s Wildfire Community Consultations and plans to be in attendance at the one Wednesday (November 1) evening in Williams Lake at the Gibraltar Room.

“My role will evolve as the needs of the communities are represented and as I’m contacted to understand more fully,” Masun says.

“Recovery is a process and we’re the starting the process right now and learning it as we’re going forward and understanding really what is recovery for the Cariboo region.”

The City of Quesnel has hired Erin Robinson as their Recovery Manager, with the District of 100 Mile House hiring MJ Cousins, and the District of Wells hiring Wylie Bystedt.

The City of Williams Lake has engaged contractor Trevor Kier to assess the City’s needs with respect to recovery efforts with plans to hire a longer-term Recovery Manager still underway pending the initial assessment.

Contact information for each Recovery Manager can be found on the CRD’s website.
