Local Credit Union sets up Relief Fund for Fort McMurray Residents

Helping residents affected by the devastating wildfire in Fort McMurray is already underway in Williams Lake.

The Williams Lake and District Credit Union is stepping up and have created an account in which all funds will go directly to the Red Cross in Fort McMurray.

Cathy, who works at the Credit Union, says she’s busy setting it up.

“There was just so much you know on social media last night, that I thought well I may as well get it going. We’re just putting it out there now. We’re just getting it up and running, so it’ll be done in the next half an hour. All of the tellers are aware so nobody needs any information except what they’re in the building for.”

Cathy says it’s devastating what’s going on in Fort McMurray, adding that if it was any one of us, we would be in a terrible situation.

Anyone can donate to the Fort McMurray Relief fund during regular business hours at the Credit Union.
