Assault And Extortion Investigation Underway In Quesnel

RCMP have released more information on yesterday’s incident in the Plywood Hill area that led to a prominent police presence and eventually an arrest.
Corporal Dave Tyreman says they received a phone call just after 11 am when an individual told them that he had just been assaulted.
He says further investigation revealed that he had actually been lured to another residence where he was assaulted and forced to give the suspects money.
Tyreman says the victim suffered only minor injuries.
He says one person was taken into custody and they are still looking for two other suspects.
Tyreman says police believe this was an isolated incident and that the public is not at risk.

Accident on Highway 97 On Ramp Closed Section Briefly

A single vehicle merging onto Highway 97 Northbound in Quesnel, hit a traffic pole. Police and the Quesnel Volunteer Fire Department closed the ramp down as the accident was assessed. Only the driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital with suspected minor injuires.

CRD Awards Multiple Community Organizations Funding for Events and Projects

The Cariboo Regional District (CRD) awarded just over $4,000 to local non-profits in last week's [July 11] board meeting. The funding came from the CRD's Grants for Assistance, which gives funding to local non-profits that are delivering benefits to their communities
