A $15,000 penalty was handed to a BC resident after illegally facilitating guiding services during hunting expeditions.
Kurt Walden Mohr pleaded guilty in Williams Lake provincial court for acting as a guide for game, without the guide outfitter license.
An investigation by the BC Conservation Officers began in 2016, after they received information regarding an illegal guiding service being provided to non-Canadians.
After the investigation concluded, it was determined that Mohr had been selling the services of his dogs for the guided hunts with clients in the Cariboo region.
In a post from the BC Conservation Officers, they said “This was a significant investigation that put a stop to illegal business practices that impacted wildlife stewardship in the Cariboo region,”
On top of the $15,000 penalty, Mohr is prohibited from entering Crown Land near Williams Lake for 10 years.
The majority of his penalty will be going towards fish, wildlife and habitat initiatives in the Cariboo region through the Habitat Conservation Trust Foundation.
