Report Shows Work Needed At Bouchie Lake And Barlow Creek

The condition of the Bouchie Lake and Barlow Creek properties were the focus of a report that was presented to the North Cariboo Joint Planning Committee last night.
Jeff Norburn, the Director of Community Services, says they use asset planner software for numerous city buildings and north cariboo recreation and parks buildings that they manage such as the arena, the rec centre, the RCMP building and city hall.
He says they’ve just expanded it to include those rural recreation properties which previously weren’t part of that program.
Norburn says the software indicates what needs to be done to bring things back to the condition that they were in.
It indicated that more than 325 thousand dollars would need to be spent on the two properties…more than 179 thousand at Barlow Creek and over 145 thousand at Bouchie Lake.
That’s over a five year period although most of the cost would be in the first year.
In addition to community halls these properties also house things like ball diamonds, an outdoor skating rink, a barrel racing facility and trails.

Accident on Highway 97 On Ramp Closed Section Briefly

A single vehicle merging onto Highway 97 Northbound in Quesnel, hit a traffic pole. Police and the Quesnel Volunteer Fire Department closed the ramp down as the accident was assessed. Only the driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital with suspected minor injuires.
