RCMP Remind Motorists to Be Winter Ready Following Several Motor Vehicle Incidents

Williams Lake RCMP is reminding motorists to drive accordingly to road and weather conditions, be aware of changing elevations, and to have your vehicle winter-ready, after a single-vehicle rollover Wednesday afternoon.

A southbound 2006 ford fusion went over an embankment on South Lakeside Drive at 4:38pm after the driver lost control in an extremely icy area.

The vehicle had rolled on to its roof.

Police say speed may have been a contributing factor in the incident.

The driver was taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.

A driver of a tractor-trailer unit meanwhile did not sustain any injuries after the unit ended up on its side on Highway 97 South.

Police say the incident occurred at 11:53 pm on Tuesday near the 2800 Block.

The southbound unit, although traveling at a low rate of speed, drifted slightly towards the right, losing control and tipping over.

There was lots of snow, as well as little visibility during the time of the incident.
