Cariboo communities receive funding to expand walking, cycling infrastructure

The provincial government is putting up 24-million dollars to help communities expand their walking and cycling infrastructure.

The money will fund 80 projects across the province.

Dan Coulter, the minister of state for infrastructure and transit, said the projects will give people more affordable and convenient ways to explore their communities.

There are several projects in the Cariboo set to receive funding including:

  • Wiliams Lake – City of Williams Lake Active Transportation Network Plan will facilitate the development of new active transportation routes
  • Village of Clinton – Pedestrian Improvements, sidewalk upgrades of the pedestrian corridor along Highway 97 from Cariboo Avenue to McDonal Avenue
  • Canim Lake Band-Tsq’escen First Nations – Tsq’escan First Nation Accessible Community Multi-Purpose Trail, multi-use pathway connecting the east and main subdivisions
