Volunteers in Williams Lake take on Terry Fox Run after City backs out as primary organizer

The Terry Fox Run is under new management for its 35th year in Williams Lake.

A reallocation of resources by city hall meant that the cancer fundraiser would no longer be a city-run event

Lake City resident Sheila Wyse who lost her son to leukemia, says it was an obvious choice to pick up the run.

“It’s something we need to keep going. We need to keep Terry’s memory and Terry’s goal alive,” she said.

“It’s a way to honor all of the people who have been affected by cancer.”

Wyse says there will be some new features when the run gets underway on September 20th including a flatter alternative course to help those with mobility issues participate.
