Upwards of 100 Walk for ALS in Williams Lake

More than 100 took part in the 7th annual Walk for ALS in Williams Lake at Boitanio Park Saturday.

Executive Director of the ALS Society of BC, Wendy Toyer gave thanks to volunteer walk coordinator Christina Seibert for making the event possible.

She said she was amazed at the growth since the walk started seven years ago by one of the organizers Eileen Campbell.

“You can just see so much of your community out here today with all the sponsors and all the ideas. It just really warms my heart to come up here and see how far it has come,” Toyer said.

Local resident Bill Montgomery who is living with ALS thanked everyone for coming out and for their support and acknowledged those from the Williams Lake area who passed away from ALS.

His friend Angus Morrison who has recently been diagnosed said that the two most important days of the week with ALS is today and tomorrow and that without support you are in big trouble.

Proceeds from the Walk for ALS in Williams Lake that also featured a barbecue, silent auction, and local entertainment go to supporting those with ALS, and for ALS research.
