Williams Lake to lose a valuable service at the end of the year

The Nenqayni Wellness Centre Society will be closing at the end of the year.

The Society announced it will be closing in December on its website and social media on Monday, Oct. 19. The Society says “funding constraints and the inability to sustain bed-based programming” have led to the permanent closure of the Centre.

Currently, the Society has 14 employees; last year it said it had close to 60.

Nenqayni has operated for more than 44 years, serving Indigenous youth, families, and communities.

The Society says it extends a “heartfelt gratitude” to the Nations and the community members that have been a part of its journey.

“It has been an honour to support healing, wellness, and cultural connections throughout the past 44 years.”
