Cariboo Regional District Open House June 30th in Alexis Creek

The Cariboo Regional District is putting out the welcome mat for residents of Electoral Area K.

Tomorrow (June 30) they’ll be holding a Community Open House from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Alexis Creek Community Hall.

CRD Communications Manager, Kat Chatten said it will be hosted by Area K Director Buddy Anderson.

“It’s a really good event for the community to go to. They can learn about Firesmart and wildfire preparedness and invasive species management. We have an upcoming election in October that interests a lot of people and we’ll have staff on hand to go over the CRD projects, the programs, and services. And the best part is a free barbecue.”

Chatten added that people can drop in, grab themselves some food, wander around and ask us questions.

She explained how the Community Open House came about.

“We use to have Board on the Road which was a very large production where we would take a whole entire Board meeting, but we replaced that with two of these public engagement sessions in a different Area each year. This will be the first one to replace that’s replacing that new program so there should be two per year moving forward.”

We asked Chatten when the next Community Open House will be taking place.

“After elections in October and after we have a Board of Directors set up in November we’ll see who’s up next and where they want to host it and if they want to have a Spring or Summertime one.”
