Mutual Aid given earlier this week to Wildwood Volunteer Fire Department

Firefighters from 3 departments responded to a fire earlier this week at Kragback Road in the Wildwood area.

The incident occurred Monday morning (June 22) when the Wildwood Volunteer Fire Department was called to an initial report of a grass fire.

Upon arrival, they found the fire had spread rapidly and involved several areas of a property.

Due to the size and complexity of the fire mutual assistance was requested from Miocene (my-oh-seen) and Williams Lake Fire Departments.

They worked together to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby properties.

BC Wildfire Service personnel also assisted with suppression efforts in adjacent wildland areas.

No injuries have been reported.

Deputy Fire Chief for the Williams Lake Fire Department, Brendan Foote, said they responded to a mutual aid structure fire call at 10:55 that morning.

“We sent 12 firefighters in a duty truck, an engine and a tender. We worked with the Wildwood Volunteer Fire Department for almost 4 hours.”
