Mock evacuation notification exercise to take place in 150 Mile House

Residents in 150 Mile House will notice an increase of emergency sirens, vehicles, and service personnel in their area tomorrow, June 06, 2026.

But there is no need to panic, according to the Cariboo Regional District Manager of Emergency Program Services, Irene Israel, who says the increase will be because of an evacuation notification exercise.

“On June 6, we plan on an evacuation notification exercise in the Frontier Estates area,” says Israel. “It is between nine o’clock in the morning and noon. At this event, we’re going to be testing how we notify people during emergencies. We do many exercises through the year, and this year we’re testing specifically that portion of emergencies.”

Israel also says that the residents will see the RCMP and Central Cariboo Search and Rescue will be conducting the exercise, but will not be entering private property. Officers conducting the exercise will also not be asking anyone for personal and private information.

“Everyone there will be marked clearly in uniform, and they will also have information packages for anyone who has questions.”

Israel added that if anyone has questions about the exercise, they can reach out to her directly at 250-855-8924. The information is on the Regional District’s social media and website.
