108 Mile Water System temporarily shut off for maintenance all day

The 108 Mile water system will be temporarily shut off for the majority of today, April 8.

The Cariboo Regional District (CRD) says residents on portions of the Gloinnzun Crescent will experience temporary shut-offs while crews perform maintenance on the system.

The work and shut off will be until 4 p.m. on April 8.

The CRD says after the shutdown, a Boil Water Advisory will be in effect as a precaution when the water system’s service is restored.

Residents are asked to bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, and washing food.

The CRD also encourages residents to use boiled or bottled water for all consumption purposes.

While the work is ongoing, residents should expect temporary loss of water service. Possible air lines or water discolour when the service is restored, as well as increased chlorine levels during the system flushing.

Residents are also advised to run a cold water tap until the water clears when the service has been restored.

Updates on when the service will be restored, and more, can also be available on the CRD’s website.
