The Director of Municipal Services in Williams Lake was awarded Manager of the Year by the Public Works Association of BC last week.
PWABC held their technical conference and trade show in Penticton from September 17-20.
Gary Muraca says it was a great honor and that the best part for him was being nominated by his coworkers who without them he would not have had the opportunity.
“I didn’t know right up until the last minute when they announced it-the Association. They kept it pretty quiet so it was a big surprise for me. Basically, the award was for leadership, staff engagement, and commitment to continuing education for my staff and for my self.”
Muraca has been involved in public works for 21 years, 3 of which have been in the City of Williams Lake.
“I’m really happy in Williams Lake,” adds Muraca. “I have a great staff and I work with great people, so I’m happy where I’m at.”
