Work continues to get ready for a multicultural gathering of all nations and cultures residing in the Williams Lake area.
It was an idea that Williams Lake Indian Band Councillor, Rick Gilbert had and here he explains how it came about and the reason for it.
“I put it to council that why don’t we have a pow-wow sort of event where we bring everyone out from the different ethnic groups and cultures of Williams Lake to come and celebrate their culture, their foods, their songs and dances”.
Also planned for the weekend a tour of the reserve, and our huge log gymnasium that we built several years ago and possibly a little tour of the golf and their 120 year old church.
Gilbert says the multicultural festival is a great opportunity to show all people of all origins around Williams Lake that the people of Sugar Cane care and respect their cultures and we want them to understand ours.
The multiculture gathering will be held June 11th and 12th at the Pow-Wow Arbour at Chief Will-Yum campsite.
