Wildland Fire Fought By Williams Lake Fire Department

The Williams Lake Fire Department  was busy fighting a wildland fire earlier this week.

On Tuesday night (April 2) at 8:33 Assistant Fire Chief Cory Boyd said they responded to the incident on 11th Avenue North next to Highway 97.

When they arrived Boyd says they found an approximately 50 by 50 foot fire involving brush, trees, equipment parts and tires behind Grassland Equipment.

Smoke was crossing and impeding visibility on the highway and trucks were set up on Highway 97 to help work on the fire and provide traffic control.

Boyd says they also had trucks enter the property and the fire was knocked down quickly with crews spending time cooling hot spots.

Williams Lake Fire Department was on scene for about an hour with an Engine, Ladder truck, and two Tenders with a total of 20 firefighters.

Boyd said no juries were reported and that the cause of the fire is undetermined.
