West Fraser will be sole owner of Cariboo Pulp and Paper after dissolving joint venture with Mercer

West Fraser and Mercer International will be dissolving their 50/50 joint venture in the Cariboo Pulp and Paper Mill in Quesnel.

The two companies announced the agreement to dissolve the venture today. (Tuesday)

West Fraser Will continue as the sole owner/operator of the mill, doing business as Cariboo Pulp and Paper Company.

“Cariboo Pulp is an important member of the West Fraser family of mills,” said West Fraser President and CEO.

“This agreement better positions West Fraser to support the mill and provides ongoing certainty to our talented workforce.”

Cariboo Pulp and Paper has the capacity to produce up to 340,000 tonnes of Northern Bleached Softwood Kraft pulp annually, employing nearly 300 people.
