Another South Cariboo Health Foundation Project Completed

The upgradesĀ to the Wound Care Clinic at the 100 Mile District General Hospital are now complete.

That was one of the project goalsĀ of last year’s Starry Night Fundraiser which brought in a record two hundred thousand plus dollars.

ā€œIt is used by Wound Care and Urology, we have two services that utilize that room,ā€ Brenda Devine, Public Relations and Fundraiser for the South Cariboo Health Foundation, said ā€œEveryone is so happy to have this room.ā€

Devine noted that the Wound Care Clinic services a large number of patients.

ā€œMaybe 400 a month, that’s quite a high number. And like I said we have Urology using that room. Specialist come up from Kamloops and do tests and spend a day seeing people so it’s very busy in that room.ā€

Three pieces of equipment to enable wounds to heal a little bit faster were also purchased through the South Cariboo Health Foundation’s fundraising efforts at a cost of $23,000 each.

Last year’s Starry Night Fundraiser raised a record two hundred thousand plus dollars which Devine said couldn’t have been attainable without the extreme generosity of the residents in the South Cariboo.
