Williams Lake Fire Department To Practice Hazmat Training In The Hodgson Road Area

Don’t be alarmed if you see the Williams Lake Fire Department spending 3 hours in the Hodgson Road area this evening (June 20).

“We’re doing a mock hazmat exercise just to give our members some practice on hazmat.” Deputy Fire Chief Brandon Foote said, “Hazmat is one of the services that the Williams Lake Fire Department provides to the community. The exercise is going to be up in the Lutheran Church parking lot which is on Hodgson just up the road from the Fire Hall.”

Foote added that they’ll be doing this hazmat exercise between 6 and 9 tonight and if anyone sees them in that area, know it’s just a training exercise and everything is fine.

“We do build hazmat training into our annual training calendar, it is one of the skills that we have to make sure that we’re proficient in,” Foote said.
