Williams Lake Mayor positive about future after attending FCM conference

Williams Lake Mayor Surinderpal Rathor attended the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) conference in Toronto.

The conference covered different issues affecting various cities across the country, presented by leaders such as FCM CEO Carole Saabe and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Rathor says two big issues affecting the Cariboo were spoken about greatly.

“Housing and mental health, because we have a lot of homeless people, a lot of people have mental health issues,” says Rathor.

“and I’m counting on the federal government to work along with the provincial government.”

Rathor was most optimistic after he spoke with Saabe about the action needed to be taken to improve communities.

He says that they wanted to start working now on infrastructure, housing, mental health, and climate change.
