A Tatla Lake resident, charged following a massive weapons seizure in 2013, has now been sentenced in Provincial Court in Williams Lake.
Gerald Peter Kirby, 63 at the time of his arrest, has been given a 6-month conditional sentence which means it will be served in the community as well as a 10-year firearms prohibition.
Kirby pled guilty to 9 counts including possession of a weapon for the purpose of trafficking, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized and careless use of a firearm in terms of storage.
13 other charges were stayed.
The charges stem from a weapons seizure at his property in August of 2013.
BC’s Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit reportedly seized 183 firearms, including assault-style semi-automatic weapons as well as tens of thousands of rounds of ammunition.
Police say prohibited devices such as extended magazines were also seized.
