Quesnel’s Ambassador Leadership Program Is Going Through A Transition.

This is no longer your mother’s Quesnel Ambassador Leadership Program.

Rose Scott, the Workshop Coordinator, went through some of the changes at this week’s City Council meeting.

One of the big ones is who can compete…

“We’re really, really excited about bringing all genders to the program, this is no longer a girls only program, everyone is invited to join regardless of their identity. They only need to be between the age of 15 to 17.”

Scott says they are keeping some of the traditional things such as speech arts, talent and interviews.

But she says they have also added 13 different workshops that are focused on improving the candidate in many ways, emotional, physical, as well as academic.

Topics include self-defence, self confidence, resiliency, dressing for success and even a mechanics workshop.

This year’s speech and talent show will be on July 4th with the pageant set for the following night on the 5th.

The six candidates for this year’s program were introduced at the meeting, and they also received their banners.

They are, in no particular order, Hailey Murray, Taylor Heaton, Gracie Campbell, Nalyssa Runge, Sydney Williams, and Makayla Squinas.
