An adult female and male were taken into custody Sunday afternoon in the Interlakes area after a spike belt was deployed near Lone Butte.
100 Mile RCMP and Central Cariboo Traffic Services responded at 9:10 am to a suspicious vehicle complaint in the 93 Mile area where a grey Pontiac Sunfire with damage on the driver’s side and a broken driver’s side window was going in and out of properties.
The vehicle was located in town about one hour later and fled from an attempted traffic stop.
Staff Sgt. Svend Nielsen said with assistance from the public, officers were able to track the movement of the vehicle eventually leading to a successful spike belt deployment on the Horse Lake Connector Road.
“The vehicle was observed by multiple witnesses along Horse Lake Road traveling on two tires,” Nielsen said.
“The vehicle came to rest in a ditch at the Deka Lake turnoff near Interlakes, and the female driver and male passenger fled the area, likely having been picked up by a passing vehicle.”
The vehicle was seized and the two suspects who are known to police were taken into custody at 2:20 pm.
“The investigation is ongoing,” Neilsen said.
“ Your local RCMP thank you for the assistance.”
