Paws For a Cause Starts Sunday

An annual event will allow you to help speak for those who can’t speak for themselves.

Paws for a Cause starts tomorrow in Williams Lake.

This annual which raises funds for the SPCA, starts bright and early, says Williams Lake SPCA manager, Liz Dighton.

“We’re busy all morning long and normally we’re wrapped up just before 1 o’clock…It’s a morning event …so you can still take part and enjoy that afternoon sunshine.”

Paws For Cause gets underway with a walk at 9 am in Boitanio Park.

Dighton says there are three walking options in which your four-legged friend can join.

“Our first walk is the 5 km and that heads out at 10..Every 15 minutes after that we head out for the 2.5 km walk and then finally at 10:30 we head out for the short 1 km walk.”

Dighton, says if you are unable to make the event, the SPCA is always looking volunteers, donations, and items.

“We also always need sidewalk salt for our water system, garbage bags, paper towels, dog toys; the big durable ones for the big dogs, liquid laundry soap, rope toys, liquid dish soap, vinegar, q-tips, and the big item we’re slowly searching for is one of the large steel shipping containers.”

All funds raised from the event will stay and support the Williams Lake SPCA.
