Williams Lake Mayor and Councillors sworn in for new term

It’s official: Surinderpal Rathor has been sworn in for a second consecutive term as Mayor of Williams Lake.

In his address during Tuesday, Nov. 3’s inaugural Council Meeting, Mayor Rathor thanked his family and everyone forgiving him their trust for another four years.

“Whether you voted for me, or not, or you voted for another candidate, it doesn’t matter — I’m your mayor. You can count on me,” Mayor Rathor said. “I will work hard, harder than I ever did, for each and every member of my community, or community. We have accomplished so much together, but the work is not done yet, and your voice will continue to matter.”

Mayor Rathor said that he will continue to work with everyone and the voices of the community will be heard under his leadership.

“I look forward to continuing the work with the council, city staff, and all of you. Most of you who have visited my office know that I have an open-door policy. Come any time.”

Alongside Rathor, Councillors Paul French, Ruth Lloyd, Michael Moses, Scott Nelson, Jason Ryll, and Nathan Wiebe were sworn in as well.

Each councillor thanked their families and the community for the opportunity to help grow the City of Williams Lake.

In each address, Mayor Rathor and the Councillors congratulated Premier-Designate Lorne Doerkson and promised that with the change in government, Williams Lake could prosper greatly.
