A 79-year old man, accused of shooting two people, has been ordered to stand trial in Supreme Court in Quesnel.
Patrick Bettcher was in court this week for a pre-trial conference.
He has elected to be tried by judge and jury, and he’s due back in court on November 16th to fix a date for trial.
Bettcher is charged with two counts of discharging a firearm, and one each of discharging a firearm reckless of others life and safety and assault with a weapon.
The charges are in connection with an incident in Wells in June of 2024.
Quesnel RCMP received a report of someone suffering from a gunshot wound approximately 17 kilometres up the 16-hundred Forest Service Road.
Police say it was later determined that two men were suffering from non-life threatening injuries, and that a third man was at the Wells RCMP Detachment with the intention of turning himself in.
The suspect was released pending further investigation and both victims were transported to hospital.
