100 Mile House RCMP are investigating a “cruel and senseless act of violence”

RCMP is investigating the death of a cow after it was found on the side of a forest service road near Succour Lake.

Police say they received a report on Oct. 7 of a domestic cow that had been found shot and killed, and left on the side of the road at the eight-kilometre marker on the 610 Forest Service Road.

Sergeant Brian Lamb says the cow was black, but had been spray-painted orange.

Police who attended the scene do not believe this is a case of mistaking the cow for a wild animal by a hunter.

“We’re hoping the public can help us find who did this, or has any information so we can stop these acts,” says Lamb. “This was an intentional act of cruelty.”

The police say the investigation is ongoing.
