Not one, not two, but three people were arrested in connection with a break-and-enter in the South Cariboo.
100 Mile House RCMP were called to the 4000 Block of Highway 97 near Lac La Hache on August 11 and arrested two adult males and an adult female attempting to hide on the gated and locked property.
“All three individuals were arrested for break and enter,” says Sergeant Brian Lamb. Lamb added that a large duffel bag was found with the persons and contained two shotguns, bear spray, and an edged weapon.
“From my understanding, the firearms themselves were loaded and basically ready to be used,” said Lamb. “It was fortunate that these items were found in a bag and weren’t on their persons at the time, and the arrests were made safely.”
Police believe that a fourth individual was involved in the break and enter based on a statement from a witness. The witness said that a vehicle, described as a pickup truck with a headache rack, was seen dropping off the three individuals who were arrested off on the property.
100 Mile RCMP have been investigating a rise in break-and-enters, as well as a series of property thefts in the Lac La Hache area. However, Lamb says this incident is not connected or related to any of the previous incidents so far in their investigation.
“No charges have been laid in this incident, but we are continuing to investigate,” says Lamb. “We [RCMP] do foresee and do believe that charges will be forwarded to the Crown, and we feel strongly that charges will be approved.”
RCMP asks anyone who may have seen anything suspicious on August 11, or any previous reports of break-and-enters to contact the 100 Mile House detachment with any information/
