Two vehicle crash leaves one person trapped inside

Two people were injured in a car accident in the South Cariboo earlier this week.

100 Mile House RCMP Sergeant Brian Lamb says the police received a report of a head-on collision off Highway 97 near Keane Road on Sunday, October 4. Police and Emergency Health Services attended the scene, where a vehicle was found down an embankment on its roof with a person trapped inside.

“The second vehicle was in the northbound lane with severe damage, and a single occupant who was not injured,” says Lamb.

“The occupant in the overturned vehicle was extracted by rescue personnel and was taken to the hospital with undetermined injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.”

According to the police, the suspected driver of the overturned vehicle had left the scene and was later located nearby with injuries.

Police believe the overturned vehicle was travelling south and drifted across the centre line before striking the northbound vehicle, which then left the roadway.

Lamb says the investigation into the accident remains underway.
