A Boil Water Advisory has been issued for residents using the Horse Lake Water System, east of 100 Mile House.
The Cariboo Regional District issued the advisory at the request of a Drinking Water Officer under the Drinking Water Protection Act and as a precaution following testing results on the water.
Residents in the area are asked to bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using water from the system for any of the following:
- Drinking
- Cooking (if not boiled)
- Brushing teeth
- Washing dishes
- Washing fruits or vegetables to be eaten raw
- And watering animals
The regional district also advises residents to use sanitizer after washing hands, and to use an alternate, safe source of water such as bottled water, when available.
The district says the advisory will remain in effect until it is officially rescinded and notice is given by the Cariboo Regional District, and it will not be releasing daily notices.
Residents will receive an official notice by the regional district’s communication channels.
If residents have any other questions, they can call the Environmental Services department at 1-800-665-1636 during regular office hours.
