The wildfire smoke is causing some air quality issues in the South Cariboo.
The Ministry of Environment and Parks, with Environment Canada, has issued an air quality warning over the region.
The agencies caution that some people are more likely to be negatively impacted by smoke. This includes people with lung and heart conditions, pregnant individuals, infants and young children, people aged 65 and older, and anyone whose health is affected by a chronic condition or acute illness.
They advise residents to reduce strenuous activity outside while the warning is in effect, monitor their residences’ air filters, and clean them regularly.
The air quality warning also covers Cache Creek and Kamloops as well as other regions in the Central Interior and the Kootenays.
More information on the Air Quality Warning and what you can do to stay safe can be found on the Air Quality Warning page on the province’s website.
