Pallet fire quickly extinguished by Williams Lake Fire Department

A downtown Williams Lake business sustained some damage over the weekend.

On Sunday May 10th at approximately 4:45 am the Williams Lake Fire Department received a burning complaint behind 310 Oliver Street.

“The responding Duty Officer quickly confirmed this is to be some pallets on fire next to the adjacent building.” Assistant Fire Chief Cory Boyd said, “Both the Duty Officer and responding engine were able to quickly knock the fire down and prevent any further spread into the structure.”

Boyd said the structure sustained some damage to the door platform and the exterior of the building along with smoke and heat accessing the interior through a broken window.

The Williams Lake Fire Department cleared the scene that morning at 5:30 and responded with one engine, a Duty Officer pickup, and 8 firefighters.
