Co-Accused Ordered To Stand Trial In Drone Shooting Incident

A 40-year old woman, the co-accused in a drone shooting incident, has been ordered to stand trial on two of five charges.

Ingrid Melendez is facing one count each of Uttering Threats to Cause Bodily Harm and Obstructing a Peace Officer.

Three other charges, all weapons-realted offences, were stayed.

A trial date has not yet been set.

35-year old Richard Mowat was also charged in connection with this alleged incident.

He pled guilty to a lesser charge of Mischief and was sentenced to time served and 12 months probation.

100 Mile House RCMP were called to a residence in the Bridge Lake area back in August of 2016 after receiving a report that a resident shot down a drone that he said was equipped with a camera and was being used to look in his windows.

Police say the drone’s owner then drove to the property and crashed through a gate before narrowly missing the property owner with his vehicle.

RCMP say the homeowner, who was not charged, then discharged his firearm in the direction of the vehicle causing it to leave.
