100 MILE HOUSE EVACUATED

An Evacuation Order has been issued by Mayor Mitch Campsall for the District of 100 Mile House.

The order states that the wildfire in the area is moving rapidly and is threatening the residences and businesses of the District of 100 Mile.

Because of the potential danger of life and health, the District has ordered everyone to evacuate the area immediately.

Residents are advised to close all windows and doors and turn off all necessary appliances, unplug television and computers, gather your family and take a neighbour or anyone else who needs help.

Other suggestions include taking all critical items such as medicine, your purse or wallet and keys…taking your pets in a kennel or on a leash and closing all gates.

The evacuation route is on Highway 24 east, Highway 5 north and then Highway 16 to Prince George.

The Emergency Social Services Reception Centre is located at the College of New Caledonia on 22nd Avenue.

In other news related to the Cariboo wildfires….the Alexis Creek Evacuation Order has been extended to West Fraser Road.

The following areas are now included….North of Highway 20 between Alexis Creek and the Fraser River, West of the Fraser River to the junction of West Fraser Road and Roddie Road on the west side of the Fraser River, and directly west 55 kilometres to a point 90 kilometres directly north of Alexis Creek.

There is still just an evacuation alert for Dragon Mountain in the Kersley/French Road area.

We also have alerts for a couple of areas near Williams Lake at North and South Lakeside .
