Uniformed Resources at Full Capacity at Williams Lake RCMP Detachment

General Duty Uniform resources are at full capacity at the Williams Lake RCMP Detachment detachment.

Insp. Jeff Pelley is the Officer in Charge.

“I think it is a good thing for the community and our membership as we’re going to be able to further focus on problematic areas and offenders within the community to enhance our efforts, and make the community a safer place.”

Pelley says that the Detachment currently has three new constables from Regina, Saskatchewan on the ground and that an additional one will be arriving in the next few weeks.

He says as well as the Detachment’s uniformed resources being at full capacity, the three-member Crime Reduction Unit who is in their fourth week of operations have been very effective focusing on violent and prolific offenders resulting in a substantial seizure of drugs, guns, and money last weekend.

The suspect who remains in police custody is scheduled to appear before the courts May 31, 2017.

There are currently 12 prolific offenders in Williams Lake, three of which Pelley says remain in police custody.

An additional three Crime Reduction Unit members are expected to be identified and staffed in the fall of 2017.
