City gives support to The Ride Across Canada for veternans

Quesnel City Council has thrown theirĀ support behind a local man’s ride across Canada for veterans.

Paul Nichols will ride across the country on horseback with more than 700 veterans, three at a time for about half a day.

Council has voted in favorĀ of donating $500.00 and will also waive any fees as well as provide support by forwarding a letter of introduction to all local governments that will host the ride and when possible assist with paperwork.

Paul and Terry Nichols made a presentation earlier this month.

The ride will begin on April 11th from Victoria and finish up in Saint John’s, Newfoundland, with a ceremonial event on March 28th.

The ride is designed to raise awareness and provide education regarding Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) of Canadian Veterans as well as to shed some light on the trouble that military personnel have in transitioning back to regular civilian life.

More details are available on The Ride Across Canada Facebook page.
