The battle against the heavy snowfall begins
Quesnel’s Director of Public Works and Engineering is urging the public to stay home if possible so they can deal with the huge dump of snow from overnight.
Ken Coombs says 12 to 14 inches of snow fell over the past 24 hours and more is expected today.
He says crews will likely need the rest of the week to finally clear things up.
Some roads are impassable unless you have 4-wheel drive according to Coombs who adds that even snow removal crews need twice as much time to do the work when there is this much snow.
The message is the same in Williams Lake and 100 Mile House.
Williams Lake Mayor Walt Cobb says crews there likely won’t get to the downtown area until later tonight.
Cobb says they too are working off of a priority list and asks that the public be patient.
