On Sunday September 25th, 2016 at 9:09 PM, Williams Lake RCMP were notified by medical staff at Cariboo Memorial Hospital that a male was currently being treated for a suspected gunshot wound to the elbow.
Earlier that same evening the victim was at a residence in Williams Lake when an unknown male came to the door looking for another man. The unknown male was told that the person he was looking for was not at the residence. The suspect did not believe what the victim had told him. The victim told the suspect to check the residence for himself. It was then that the victim was shot in the elbow. The victim was taken to the hospital by people who were in the house at the time of the shooting. The victim required surgery for his injury and is expected to recover from his injury.
At the time of the shooting, there were other people in the residence and they have been spoken to by Williams Lake RCMP. The investigation is ongoing and police feel that this is a targeted offence. There is no fear for the safety of the general public.
The unknown suspect in this shooting is described as male, 40 years old, 6 feet and weighing 160 lbs. Under no circumstances should anyone try to apprehend this individual.
