Quesnel Housing Society Says Parking Won’t Be An Issue

The Quesnel Lions Housing Society insists there won’t be a parking problem with their proposed 30-unit seniors affordable housing complex.
Council has raised concerns about the fact that there would be just 11 parking spaces but President Mitch Vik insists they will be able to manage parking.
He says “the research tells us that the seniors that are going to renting apartments in our affordable housing units are going to be of lower means, and they’re not going to own vehicles more than likely without any intervention from our society.
Vik says Fraser Village in Quesnel is a good apples to apples comparison and they have 50 units and no parking.
He says they have an informal arrangement with Northern Health and the City and he says as far as he knows there haven’t been any problems.
A public hearing on the Lions project is coming up on the 28th in Council Chambers.
Vik says if all goes well construction could begin as early as next spring.
