Names have not been released but RCMP have confirmed that the victims in last week’s deadly crash on Highway 97 near Mcleese Lake were not from the Cariboo.
RCMP say the two people that were killed in the accident were from the Lower Mainland.
Police say they were in a passenger vehicle that crossed the center line and collided with a transport truck just north of Mcleese Lake last Friday night just before 10 o’clock.
Both vehicles were engulfed in flames.
The driver of the transport truck managed to make it out, although he did suffer undetermined injuries.
The highway was down to single lane alternating traffic for several hours.
