2nd Annual Winter Carnival Kicks Off

Recent rain and melting snow has done little to dampen optimism for the Williams Lake 2nd Winter Carnival-which officially got underway in Boitanio Park this morning.

President Darrick Boyes says they’ve adapted before officially cutting a ribbon alongside community leaders including Mayor Walt Cobb, Williams Lake Indian Band Councillor Willie Sellars, and Cariboo-Chilcotin MLA Donna Barnett.

“We’ve only had to cancel one event-skiing,” he says.

“We just didn’t have the resources to make it but we’re bringing in a live band and we’ve got a couple of extra surprises for people to make up for what we had to cancel.”

The Williams Lake Winter Carnival runs today and Sunday from 9 am until 4 pm.
