Canim Lake Band Wellness Centre to Receive $5,000 As Runner-Up in #ShareTheCare Giveaway

Being a runner up paid off for the Canim Lake Band Wellness Centre, as the group expects to receive a five thousand dollar donation from Pacific Blue Cross for participating in the “Share the Care” event.

Barb Geurtsen, the administrator for the centre and a Councilor with the Canim Lake Band, explains how they plan to spend some of the money:

What we’ve talked about so far is to get community members trained to be skippers. We need skipper training because last year we bought a twelve seat-er (war) canoe and we only have one person that’s trained.

The Wellness Centre was one of five finalists eligible to win fifty-thousand dollars as part of the Blue Cross’s 75th anniversary celebrations.
