Charges stayed against accused in New Year’s Eve standoff in Williams Lake

Charges against a man who was arrested following a New Year’s Eve standoff in Williams Lake have been stayed.

31-year old Mitchell Nicholas Jeff was facing charges of uttering threats and resisting or obstructing a peace officer.

A recognizance after allegation was issued resulting in a 12 month peace bond against him.

Williams Lake RCMP responded to a firearms complaint in the 900 block of Western Avenue back on December 31st of last year.

Officers surrounded a house and contained the area.

The Emergency Response Team was called in and police say they were able to safely arrest two men inside after a period of about 6 hours.
