The Royal Canadian Sea Cadets Williams Lake Branch Wants You

The Royal Canadian Sea Cadets are welcoming aboard new members.

Williams Lake Branch President for the Navy League of Canada, Fred Vankuipers said after a dismal 3 years because of COVID, they are back and recruiting new members.

He added that there are many benefits that come with being with the Williams Lake Sea Cadets.

“Once you’ve completed your Sea Cadet Program you can go pretty well anywhere. A lot of our young people have graduated out of the program and have joined the Armed Forces, RCMP, border Security, and even leaders in the community.”

He added that the Sea Cadets always have things on the go from sailing weekends to competing in Biathlon.

Vankuipers said any youth between 12 and 18 years of age are welcome to come out any Thursday night starting at 6:30 to their meetings below the radio station on south first avenue.

“It’s just so satisfying seeing the young people come out. I’ve been with the Organization for 25 years and it’s very gratifying to see them do so well” Vankuipers said.
