Charging station for electric vehicles to be built in Hanceville

The province will be expanding their electric vehicle charging network, including a station in the Cariboo.

One of the four new electric vehicle charging stations being built in the province will be located at the Hanceville Lookout Rest Area off Highway 20.

“Our growing EV charging network is making it easier and safer for people who own electric vehicles to travel around the province,” said Rob Fleming, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure. “Now, British Columbians can choose greener transportation options, which is part of our commitment to a cleaner, stronger economy.”

Each of the new charging stations will host two fast chargers and one Level 2 charger.

The Province says Westcana Electric Inc. will build the new charging stations. They also say the project is expected to be completed by late December this year and is expected to be open to the public in 2022.
