Smoke and flames maybe visible as crews respond to wildfire west of 100 Mile

Smoke, flames, and firefighting aircraft may be visible from 100 Mile House and Highway 97 as the Wildfire Management Branch says they are responding to a 0.5-hectare fire.

Fire Information officer Emily Epp says the fire which is roughly 10 km west of 100 Mile House, is not growing rapidly and no structures or property are threatened at this time.

Three Wildfire Management Branch firefighters are on the scene as well as several industry personnel.

Air tankers and ten local contract firefighters are heading to the incident for additional support.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Wildfire Management Branch says reports from the public led to a quick and efficient response.
